Custom Solutions
With a gradient of up to 42 degrees, the "Nordhang" on the Laber near Oberammergau is the steepest official ski slope in Germany. This extremely steep location also poses major challenges for the mountain restaurant ‘Die Laberei’ at the summit. At an altitude of 1,686 metres, the tenants have to find an environmentally friendly solution for the disposal of greasy kitchen waste water. As the restaurant is only accessible via the Laber mountain railway, all orders have to be transported in advance by gondola, which requires precise planning and calculation, especially when the number of guests changes. A compact, robust and easily transportable grease separator was required for the drainage solution, as it had to be transported by air. KESSEL supplied a customised solution: the Euro ‘E+S’ M grease separator in nominal size 15 made of plastic. This model weighs ‘only’ 1.5 tonnes and includes a circulation, cleaning and pump system, which is installed in a separate technical room. Thanks to a manually operated filling device, the grease and sludge can be filled into 200-litre drums without any unpleasant odours and transported down to the valley via the mountain railway. The solution was specially adapted to the challenging terrain and the limited space behind the restaurant.
