Drain technology
Opened in 1991, Lebenshilfe Werkstätte Gaimersheim offers around 200 people with physical and mental disabilities more than just a structured daily routine. They receive individual support in 21 groups and are integrated into both the community and the labour market. The canteen kitchen not only supplies the employees on site, but also provides the secondary school in Gaimersheim with around 300 meals a day. The kitchen refurbishment posed technical challenges due to low floor structures and a lack of gradient differences. Customised, flat solutions were used, such as 20 cm wide drainage channels with grating covers. Slip-resistant gratings were installed in areas such as the trolley cleaning or scullery. Stainless steel floor drains with greater drainage capacity were used in areas subject to heavier use, making cleaning and maintenance easier.
